Daryl Branch appointed as the Project Director for the Creative Playground Project

The Creative Playground Consortium (Steve – Manor Royal BID, Louise – Creative Crawley, Darren – Crawley Town Community Foundation, Dave – The Hawth, Marilyn – Diverse Crawley and Vincent – Crawley LGBT+) is delighted to announce the appointment of Daryl Branch as Project Director for the Creative Playground. Daryl joins us from Studio 3 Arts in Barking & Dagenham where he was Executive Director for 10 years alongside running his own company.

Upon his appointment Daryl says:

I’ve had the best time at Studio 3 Arts over the last 10 years. It is a unique organisation and will always have a special place in my heart. Studio 3 is deeply embedded in its communities, and I’m proud of what we’ve achieved. It’s been an honour to work with our brilliant staff, trustees, partners, communities and local artists. I’ve loved being a part of making such huge changes and making a difference to the cultural life of Barking & Dagenham during my time; the opening of the new arts centre is the beginning of its new chapter.

Looking ahead; I’m excited to begin the challenge of working with people and communities across Crawley, leading the new Creative People and Places programme ‘Creative Playground’ from this Summer. I’ll be looking to talk to as many people as I can from the area, hear their views, learn about the creativity already happening and help to make even more great things happen. I can’t wait to get started! ‘

Steve Sawyer, Executive Director of Manor Royal Business Improvement District and Lead Organisation for the Creative Playground Consortium says:

“We are delighted to welcome Daryl to lead the Crawley Creative Playground project. He brings a superb mix of skills and experience to present and deliver high quality arts and culture initiatives. This project is an exciting and unique opportunity for the cultural development of our town and I am looking forward to seeing Daryl begin work our diverse and varied communities to make something exciting happen.”

The Core Consortium act as the voluntary governance board for the project and Daryl is being line-managed by Louise Blackwell, Creative Director of Creative Crawley. He will begin working full time from 13th July 2022.
