PAST EVENT: To find out what’s next in the Give it a Go Workshop series click here.
This event took place on January 29th, 2022
Venue: 49- 51 High Street (former ASK shop), Crawley

This poetry workshop for beginners was themed around well-being to launch us into 2022 with positivity and care.

Throughout the workshop, participants created their own poetry and also contributed to a group poem that was to be read together at the end of the day.

Woodzy is a rapper and spoken word artist who studied at the Brit School and lives in Surrey. The award-winning poet and workshop facilitator has recently been featured on the Bafta Award-winning Sky Arts TV show, Life & Rhymes, hosted by Benjamin Zephaniah as well as performing at Wembly Arena in partnership with Sky Sports.

From opening for UK grime artist Stormzy to achieving over a million views for his 90’s Baby poem, Woodzy has created his own style. He first worked with Creative Crawley during the Right Here festival in January 2021 and since then has worked in partnership with Crawley Town Community Foundation.

Participants of this workshop had the chance to win a free Crawley Town football kit. This event was completely free to take part in and was open to all ages. You could have dropped in for 10 minutes or stayed the full length of the workshop.
