This event took place on February 26th, 2022
Venue: Crawley Museum,  The Tree, 103 High Street, Crawley, West Sussex, RH10 1DD

Ever wanted to try weaving? Do you need some guidance and inspiration?

Participants joined textile artist Charlene Sandy for an afternoon of weaving where they got to grips with the basics of weaving using various colours and textures.

Charlene even taught some of our participants how to weave shapes. Participants were also shown how to finish off a piece so that they can take it home and hang it on their wall.  Materials were provided on the day.

This event was free and suitable for children aged 8+ (accompanied by an adult). Anyone could drop in and stay for 10 minutes or for the whole two hours.

Charlene holds a degree in Textile Design and follows her need to use her hands to create beautiful things. After her studies, Charlene was transported into the world of fashion, having worked with some of the top stylists in the industry. This has seen her work on many fashion shoots as a stylist and an assistant working on still photographic shoots, as well as TV commercials, and short films.

Charlene then re-directed her course and has now gone back to her textile roots and is now facilitating Art and Craft workshops in and around London, working with children and adults. Charlene attends workshops herself, to better her own knowledge of the craft which she then passes on to others, keeping up traditions old and new.
